Morocco is a constitutional monarchy. At the moment rules King Mohammed VI. It is an Islamic country but the young king is modern and the country is open-minded. Languages are Arabic (in part with Berber dialects) and French. In Agadir one also understands English or German. The currency is the Moroccan Dirham. 1 Dirham has 100 Centimes. 1 Dirham has about the equivalent of 0,10 Euro. Geography and climate
Atlas Mountain ChainMorocco is situated in the north-western part of Africa. The coast line is approximately 3500 km long. The Atlas Mountain Chain is 2400 km long and stretches from Tunisia to Morocco. It divides the country into the fertile north-western part and the dry south-eastern part. In the oceanic northwest the average temperature is stable 25 degrees in summer and 16 degrees in winter. With rising distance to the sea also the temperature rises. In summer the temperature in the southern part of Morocco reaches up to 50 degrees during the day and 20 degrees at night. In winter the temperatures still rise on 30 degrees during the day and sink at the night partly even under the freezing point. Cuisine
Moroccan cuisine
Moroccan cuisine has long been considered as one of the most diversified cuisines in the world. The reason is because of the interaction of Morocco with the outside world for centuries. The cuisine of Morocco is a mix of Berber, Moorish, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and African cuisines. The cuisine of Morocco has been influenced by the native Berber cuisine, the Arabic Andalusian cuisine; brought by the Moriscos when they left Spain, the Turkish cuisine from the Turkish and the Middle Eastern cuisines brought by the Arabs as well as the Jewish cuisine. Spices are used extensively in Moroccan food. While spices have been imported to Morocco for thousands of years, many ingredients, like saffron from Tiliouine, mint and olives from Meknes, and oranges and lemons from Fez, are home-grown. Chicken is the most widely eaten meat in Morocco. The most commonly eaten red meat in Morocco is beef although lamb is preferred while being expensive. Couscous is the most famous Moroccan dish along with pastilla, tajine, and harira. The most popular drink is green tea with mint. The tea is accompanied with hard sugar cones or lumps. People in Morocco eat traditionally with the first three fingers of the right hand. AdvicePlease, pay attention with comparisons that we offer no mid-price hotels, but only 4-stars houses with the tours. This is recommendable in Morocco. Also we offer for good reasons only half board, on the one hand, the lunch is very cheap in Morocco on the way and originally (see at the top) and on the other hand too much time gets lost with long stays at noon. This time can be used to visit interesting places in Morocco. Insurances and inoculationsMorocco does not belong to Europe and the legal health insurances produce no achievements in the medical case. If you are insured legally, therefore, you should conclude a journey health insurance. The private health insurances perform mostly world-wide. Inoculations are not prescribed for Morocco, but inoculations are meaningful against tetanus, polio, typhoid and hepatitis with frequent travelling in south countries. |
